I created Polyspiral in 2006 when I was working for a publishing company in London. In 2010 I took the plunge and started running Polyspiral full time, and it soon took off. I now have over 50 clients who logos, websites, posters, banners I have had the pleasure to design.
The name comes from my love of painting and doodling spirals I’m sure some psychologist will come up with some meaning for this. So Poly (many) spirals – many spirals. I knew from a branding point of view you need a name that is memorable and preferably visual and it doesn’t have to be descriptive.
I graduated in 1999 with a degree in graphic design in Ipswich, Suffolk. I spent 6 years working for a computer company in Ipswich who had a website design department during the dotcom boom. I eventually got a job in publishing company in London working on several inhouse magazines and they respective website.
My intention was always to work for myself, but knew at the start I needed experience so I spent ten years doing this before moving out of London and into the lovely countryside of Suffolk.
I don’t regret a thing. I have so many new and caught up with some old friends that are so inspiring and wonderful. I have worked so hard and achieved more in the last three years then I think I ever have.
If you’re unhappy in your job, or just been made redundant think about starting your own business, it’s hard but what have you got to lose when you have everything to gain!
